Nico Williams was born Nicholas Williams Arthuer on July 12, 2002, in Pamplona, Spain to Ghanaian parents. He has an elder brother named Inaki Williams, who is also a professional footballer and plays for Athletico Bilbao.
Nico Williams began his career at thebyouth level with Pamplona in 2010 and went through the youth academy of Spanish clubs, Osasuna and Athletico Bilbao.
He was promoted to Athletico Bilbao reserve team in 2020 and joined the first team a year later as he became part of the senior team alongside his brother Inaki Williams. He made his first team debut in a 2-2 draw against Real Valladolid.

His impressive performance with Athletico Bilbao gave Nico more exposure as many top clubs like Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich, came in competition to get the talented winger.
