Born Gisele Caroline Bundchen on July 20, 1980, in Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to parents Valdir Bundchen and Vania Nonnenmacher. She is of mixed ethnicity as she was born into a German-Brazilian family with 5 siblings bamely; her fraternal twin, Patricia, Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela, and Rafaela. Her father worked as a University teacher and writer and her mother was a bank clerk.
Gisele began modelling at the age of 14 after being discovered by Elite Model Management. A year after, she took part in “Elite Look of the Year” and emerged second nationally and fourth globally.
Gisele Bundchen relocated to New York City in 1996 where she went for numerous audtions and was rejected severally before she eventually got a breakthrough in 1998 where she was featured in Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer collection runway show in Paris.
